Deep Soup Ceremony

Deep Soup is a ritual thanks-giving and durational ritual that shares the journey from harvesting, preparation, through cooking and savouring, to a return to the soil through composting. The ceremony been performed by Miche Fabre Lewin in diverse contexts including: within her Conversations with the Earth intervention with Insight Share, as part of the Thames Festival on Southwark Bride, as part of research inquiries with Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience in the UK and to open a week-long curated happening entitled Pulse in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Deep Soup Ceremony co-evolved with the University of Stellenbosch, the Green Road Hub, the Sustainability Institute and GUS Gallery as an opening and catalyst for a convivial week-long happening that followed, entitled Pulse. The ritual brought to together farmers, chefs, bakers and researchers to support relationships and narratives about food sovereignty in the Western Cape area.
