Studio Fabre Hardy is the arts and research practice of Miche Fabre Lewin and Flora Gathorne-Hardy. The practice embraces art as pathway for enlivening kinship with each other and the sentient matter of life.

Our love-labours attune with the genius of people, the spirit of place and the matter and living processes of our natureculture habitats. This body of work encompasses food, soil and land rituals, studio arts and material works, poetics and writing, photomedia, film, installation, sound and performance.

We are drawn to work amidst diverse creative, pedagogical and research communities to re-enculture the arts as a way of knowing and thinking-feelingly. Enlivening art as a praxis of conviviality, we evolve sympoiethics as a word to evoke this ecology of care in the everyday.

  • Intuitive Farming

    In January 2023, we are contributing to a panel discussion on intuitive farming hosted by Dr Julia Wright at the Oxford Real Farming Conference.

  • TEDx Soweto talk

    Miche’s TEDx Soweto Talk ‘Cooking, Culture and Conversations’ emerged as part of Eat From the Earth pavement banquet co-created with the JHB Culinary School, Johannesburg.

  • Arts Council Award

    In September 2022 Miche was awarded Arts Council of England funding to continue developing her creative practice encompassing Presence of Food.

  • Art of Sympoiethics

    July 2022 marks the publication of ‘Art of Sympoiethics’ in the Ecological Citizen. The article celebrates being human as a continuum of reciprocal exchanges between ourselves, each other, and the matter and habitats of the animate Earth.
