First Know Food was commissioned by Dr Rika Presier as part of the ARThropocene programme co-ordianted by the Centre for Sustainable Transitions, Stellenbosch University. The installation comprised a 4m long base of organic bread on which Miche Fabre composed an edible frieze cooked and fermented vegetables that were grown from the Sustainability Institute Food garden in which the table was standing.
