Altar to Animism is an elegy to the Suffolk land within which my UK studio sits. The work incorporates materials found over spring and summer months - dried pond weed from the fields, strips of hessian cloth, fragments of garlic heads from the garden, bound sticks from the woodland, burnt paper from fire ceremonies. Evolving over 24 hours, Altar to Animism is a reverential honouring of the genius loci and agency of matter that guide me in my artistic practice.
